Dental Implant Placement

information from the

Dental implant placement should be carefully planned. It is very rare for someone to walk into a dental office and have their implant placed that day. It takes patience and planning. In most cases, it is best to insert the dental implant directly below where the final crown is desired.

Dental implant placement is quite easy. A hole is drilled in the jaw bone using a special bone drill that matches the exact shape and size of the final dental implant that was selected. Bone does not feel, so there is very little to no pain during this process. The hole is called an osteotomy.

The actual dental implant placement involves screwing the dental implant into the osteotomy. In the first step the dentist removes the sterile and immaculately clean dental implant from the packaging and places it into the osteotomy. The implant is then screwed in until it becomes too difficult to hand twist it. A ratchet is then used to carefully screw the dental implant down into it's final position.

After dental implant placement the gum tissues are carefully sutured back together to cover and protect the surrounding bone.  If you are interested in dental implants and would like to schedule a free dental implant consultation with Atlanta Implant Dentist, Dr. Mark Padolsky, call 404-874-7428 for your appointment. home page
